Even as a young skate rat thrashing the streets of Whittier, California, Duarte always had a particular interest in reading and illustrating from the latest fashion magazines. Graphic Design seemed a natural career.

Upon graduating from California State University, Long Beach with a BFA in Visual Communications he scored a position as a junior designer with Sussman/Prejza and Company. Lectures at R.M. Schindler's home and office visits by Phillip Johnson were considered the norm.

Duarte's subjects include Takashi Murakami, Jessica Alba, Ed Norton, Vidal Sassoon and many more. His images have been published in over twenty-three countries including every major publication from Architectural Digest to The Wall Street Journal and his commercial clients include Random House, Kimpton Hotels and The Four Seasons Resorts.
